LiCAP will be joining Innovatrix as one of our Silver Sponsors for the upcoming 2nd Battery Gigafactory Summit USA: Advances in Planning, Engineering and Operations taking place in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 13–14, 2024.
LiCAP Technologies develops cost-effective and sustainable manufacturing solutions for lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, lithium-ion capacitors, and ultracapacitors. Their patented Activated Dry Electrode™ technology is an NMP-free coating method with the potential to revolutionize the way how energy storage devices are fabricated.
The Activated Dry Electrode®️ Technology offers a wide spectrum of loading applications, spanning from high-energy requirements in Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to demanding high-power applications, including Electric Vehicles (EV), Electric Vertical Take-Off / Landing Vehicles (eVTOL), and Power Tools. Dry electrodes consistently deliver the same specific capacity and efficiency across various loading conditions, underscoring their reliability and performance consistency.
LiCAP’s high purity carbon Activated Dry Electrodes® enable the industry leading performance of their Ultracapacitor and Lithium-ion Capacitor products. Compared with wet electrode, LiCAP Activated Dry Electrode® can deliver Higher Energy Density, Lower ESR, and a Longer Mean Service Life to end products. Their manufacturing process boasts a 70% lower carbon footprint compared with wet processed electrode and eliminates the use of solvents helping manufacturers meet their green initiatives.
Ultracapacitor Cells
LiCAP offers individual ultracapacitor cells rated at 2.7V, 2.85V or 3.0V and with a nominal capacitance of 350F, 370F, 600F, 1200F or 3000F. All of LiCAP’s ultracapacitor cells include their patented Activated Dry Electrode technology, which is 100% made in the USA. The cells are RoHS and REACH compliant, and some cells are UL 810A. LiCAP also offers ultracapacitor modules, which contain our ultracapacitor cells connected in series.
Modules
LiCAP has the capability to develop ultracapacitor modules for specific customer applications. Modules can be designed with features for optimal performance in shock/vibration environments, stand-by UPS systems, heavy cycling, hot environment, cold environment, special monitoring functions and certain volume requirements.
Lithium-ion Capacitors
LiCAP offers individual lithium-ion capacitor (LIC) cells rated at 3.8V and with a nominal capacitance of 200F, 800F. LIC cells offer users higher energy density than ultracapacitor cells with longer life and higher power capability than battery cells. All of LiCAP’s LIC cells are 100% made in the USA.
Calendering and Lamination Equipment
LiCAP lab scale Calendering and lamination equipment is an ideal choice for R&D environments where precision, flexibility, and adaptability are critical. It provides a relatively low-cost solution for companies and institutions developing dry film materials and processes. LiCAP can also support scale up to production quantities with customizable roll-to-roll turnkey systems.
Chris Lee, Vice President of Business Development at LiCAP Technologies, will be a keynote speaker at the 2nd Battery Gigafactory Summit USA: Advances in Planning, Engineering, and Operations. Chris will be delivering a presentation titled ‘Transforming Battery Manufacturing with Activated Dry Electrode® Processing’ in which he will cover the challenges of electrode production such as costs and use of toxic solvents and how LiCAP’s Activated Dry Electrode process eliminates the need for drying ovens and recovery systems, resulting in significant savings in capital expenditures, energy use, manufacturing space, and carbon emissions.
